I was born in Massamá, on August 19, 1999, and football has always been part of who I am.
My name is Florentino, but almost everyone calls me Tino. I started at Real Massamá in 2009, still a kid, where I took my first touches on the ball and realised that this was what I wanted to do with my life.
In 2010, I fulfilled the dream of joining Benfica’s youth academy, a club with enormous history and high standards. Over the years, I progressed through the different youth teams, learning from coaches, teammates, and every match I played. Benfica was more than the club that developed me — it was my home as a player and as a person.
My debut for the first team was an unforgettable moment: it happened on February 10, 2019, in a historic victory against Nacional.
Being on the pitch that day meant far more than a debut — it was the result of many years of work, sacrifice and dedication. Since then, it has been a path of commitment and growth, full of challenges and achievements, where I continue to give everything to perform at the highest level.
In the following years, I had the privilege of representing Benfica in several editions of the UEFA Champions League, the most prestigious club competition in the world, where every match is a true test of maximum intensity and demand.
After my time at Benfica, I embraced a new challenge: representing Burnley in the Premier League, the best league in the world. It’s a stage I approach with ambition, focus and the desire to show all my value. I’m proud to defend a historic club and I want to repay that trust in the best way possible, game after game.
At the same time, I have proudly represented Portugal in the youth national teams, always with a strong sense of responsibility. With daily work, I stay focused on improving and my goal is to earn my place in Portugal’s senior national team.
I arrived at Benfica as a youth player, long before I could imagine everything I would experience wearing this shirt. They were years of development at Benfica Campus, where I learned, grew and established myself as a midfielder, always with the ambition of reaching the first team.
After two and a half seasons with the B team, I earned my place in the first team in 2019 and had the opportunity to be part of the Portuguese League title in 2018/19. Later, I went on loan to Monaco and Getafe - two important experiences for my growth.
I returned to Benfica in 2022/23, and that season will always be special to me. Coming back home and becoming national champion in the year of my return was a defining moment and a reward for everything I had worked for. From then on, I continued to represent Benfica with total commitment and at the highest level, both in national competitions and in the Champions League, always proud to wear this shirt.
In early September 2025, I said goodbye to the club that had been my home for 15 years. I carry with me everything I learned, all the achievements and all the memories. I left with a full heart, grateful for every training session, every match and every opportunity.
"To be a Benfica supporter is to have an immense flame in your soul."
In September 2025, I began a new and important stage of my career by signing with Burnley Football Club. Reaching the Premier League, the best league in the world, was a moment of great pride and a step I had always aimed to take. The level of demand, intensity and rhythm in this competition makes it a daily challenge and it’s exactly the kind of challenge I look for to keep evolving.
Burnley is a historic club, with a strong identity and remarkable achievements, including two English league titles. Representing a club with such a legacy is something I value deeply. From the very first day, I felt the club’s trust and the support of the fans, which only strengthens my desire to give my best every single day.
My goal here is clear: to help establish Burnley in the Premier League, contribute to the team’s stability and growth, and repay the confidence placed in me. I work every day with ambition, focus and commitment to represent this club in the best way possible.
